How do I "Sugar At Home":

STEPS:

  • Prepare the skin:
    • Clean and dry the area where you want to remove hair. Make sure skin is dry and free of oils or lotions. Sugar in a well ventilated space, use a fan in summer to control body temperature and sweat.
  • Warm the Sugaring Paste:
    • Release lid and warm paste in microwave at 10 second intervals and check consistency is pliable.
    • If the paste is too firm, warm it by rolling it with your (oil-free) finger tips. It should become soft and pliable to mold at body temperature. Alternatively, use a wooden spatula to pull the paste or pop a fitted glove on and use the hand ball method to apply to paste. Pro Tip: Add a few drops of distilled water to the paste to make it softer for larger areas e.g. legs, arms.
  • Apply the Paste:
    • Apply Pink Powder and spread evenly. Take a ball of sugar paste and press it onto the skin, working in the opposite direction of hair growth. Press it down semi-firm so it coats the hair 360* and seeps into the follicles. Mold 2-3 times.
  • Pull the Paste:
    • After molding, hold the skin taut with your support hand, come past the edge of the sugar laid down, press and quickly pull the paste off in the direction of hair growth. Do this in one quick motion to minimise discomfort.
  • Repeat & Soothe:
    • Repeat the process as necessary for other areas. Once done, apply Midnight in Bloom Body Oil to rehydrate skin. Repeat steps 1 to 5 every 2 to 4 weeks for optimum results.

That's it! Simple and effective, no strips or heating required. Just beautiful soft, healthy glowing hair free skin.

How many brazilian's can I expect to get from one jar?

Let's look at the numbers. From your retail size jar you can get 5 - 8 brazilians. Lets say a salon charges $40 for a brazilian (I think this is low, but let's go with it), then 40 x 8  = $320 from one jar of sugar!

That's a 20x return on your investment and I'd say that's pretty epic!

What's in it?

Not much. Just all the good stuff sourced locally in Aotearoa NZ to bring you a sweet treat (yes, I'm edible if that's your thing), with a LESS OUCH hair removal experience AT HOME.

And it’s as simple as 3 ingredients…

Believe it or not, we use only three: refined cane sugar, pure distilled water, and citric acid.

How do you make your clear sugar paste?

A dash of love, a splash of passion, and the rest is all grit and determination to fill countless beautiful jars just for you.

Q. No, no, how do you make your clear sugar paste?

A. Our unique in-house cooking method is a closely guarded trade secret!

How do I store my sugar paste?

In a dry and well ventilated space away from humidity and moisture. We don't recommend storing it in the fridge.

What does it come in ?

High quality, food grade 200gm PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) cosmetic pot with a classic glass like appearance. The lid contains a pressure seal to keep your sugar paste contained and fresh. I'm also recyclable.

Midnight in Bloom - Body Oil

This decadent body oil feels gorgeous and silky to apply and smells like you're going to sleep in a herbaceous garden. Wrap your senses with every drop.

Benefits of Body Oils:

  • Since they do not contain fillers like water, body oils are more concentrated with phytonutrients from plant oils.
  • Body oils do not require preservatives or emulsifiers- so they are more natural.

Hero Ingredients:

Sunflower Oil Infused Blue Lotus Flower:  The Blue Lotus, also known as the Sacred Egyptian Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea), holds a revered position across various ancient cultures, including Egypt, Greece, and Tibet. Its beauty and fragrance symbolise tranquility, while representing creation, rebirth, death, and the eternal presence of the sun—a symbol of life’s cycles.

Moringa oleifera: Known as the 'Miracle Tree', all parts of the fascinating Moringa Tree are used for their nutritive and medicinal properties. The seeds in particular contain around 40% oil, the use of which has been documented by several ancient cultures. Moringa is also known an Behen oil, a name given to one of it's most important constituents Behenic Acid. Behenic acid is used in hair conditioners and moisturisers to enhance their smoothing effect. It's consistency and mild aroma make it a useful oil for many cosmetic preparations and it is also know as a natural fixative, helping to stabilise volatile fragrances.

Please note: due to the relatively high concentration of Stearic and Palmitic Fatty acids in Moringa, the oil can solidify in colder temperatures. Separation may also occur.
The oil is not damaged, simply steeping the bottle in hot water for a short period should resolve the issue.

Avocado Oil Organic - Persea gratissima: Avocado oil is extremely rich in vitamins A, D, and E, monounsaturated fatty acids, as well as having high lecithin and potassium content. Avocado oil is also very high in sterolins, which are reputed to reduce the presence of age spots, heal sun damage and scarring, as well as moisturising and softening the skin.

Jojoba Oil, Organic - Simmondsia chinensisInterestingly, the composition of Jojoba is similar in many ways to sebum produced by our own skin which is perhaps why it is so nourishing, protective and well-tolerated.  It penetrates the skin easily and can help to reduce water loss through the skin by forming a protective film.

Tea Tree Essential Oil: Tea Tree is widely recognised for its powerful antimicrobial effects with numerous studies documenting its activity against bacteria, viruses and fungi. Its bracing scent reflects Tea Tree’s stimulating and powerful action.

Lemongrass Essential Oil: Lemongrass is used in Ayurveda as a traditional medicine for infection, and the essential oil indeed has strong antiseptic properties as well as a tonic effect on the whole body to promote wellness.

Peppermint, Piperita Essential Oil: Peppermint’s cooling and relieving action is the best where heat and congestion are predominant. Great in foot rubs or foot baths, and massage blends for sore muscles and joints after sports, exertion or from standing all day.

Lavender, French - Essential Oil - Lavandula angustifolia: Lavender is a highly versatile ‘first aid’ oil. Healing, soothing, antiseptic and analgesic properties make it the first choice for minor burns and wounds, itchy bites and aggravated skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis and acne. For general skin care Lavender is good for all skin types.

How to Use: After bathing, massage onto slightly damp skin to seal in hydration.

Pink Powder (50 mL)

Talc-free

Formulated to absorb residual water and oils left on the skin. Will not alter the sugar paste.

Ingredient Highlights:

French Pink Clay: Beloved by French skincare enthusiasts, Pink Clay improves skin softness and is ideal for all skin types. It is very soft and can be used on fragile, dehydrated or sensitive skin. It is often a favourite selection to use on the chest, thighs, stomach and upper arms due to its gentle, yet effective nature. It is also beneficial to use on mature skin, lined or wrinkled skin.

Bentonite Clay: Bentonite Clay is composed of aged volcanic ash. It is unique in that it has the ability to produce an “electrical charge” when hydrated. When mixed with water, its electrical components change, allowing it to absorb toxins. Bentonite is thus often used to detoxify toxins, heavy metals, chemicals and other impurities from the skin and body.

Kaolin Clay: Kaolin is a white super fine clay named after the hill in China from which it was mined for centuries for use in the making of China and Porcelain. It is particularly useful for oily and acne prone skin where it's drying and cleansing properties work well to help clear the skin.

Tapioca Starch, Organic:

Tapioca starch is extracted from the roots of the South American cassava plant.
it is a common replacement for Arrowroot (Maranta arundinacea) and in fact, most commercially available 'Arrowroot' is actually Tapioca Starch.

Tapioca starch can be used as a natural thickener in personal care products. It is particularly useful in natural deodorants and powders where it aids in removing excess moisture.

How to Use:

Dust a small amount over the area to be treated. Smooth out the powder evenly against the direction of unwanted hair and skin, focusing on areas that tend to perspire.

Pro Tip:

For acne prone and aggressive ingrown, red bumps, apply Pink Powder and Neroli Soothing Tonic for extra soothing benefits. Let sit for 5 minutes, then remove with a damp cloth.
